Our Sustainability Practices
Sustainability is an important part of manufacturing, now more than ever.
At Bartco Lighting, we pride ourselves on being an eco-friendly practice through recycling, solvent free manufacturing, and being leaders in greener coating processes. All of our fixtures are manufactured in and shipped from our factory in Huntington Beach, CA.
Many of our materials are sourced locally, including packaging, plastics, aluminum sheets, wood cladding, and more. Some services we don’t do in-house, like powder coating, we outsource locally as well.
We partner with local suppliers to reduce emissions and support our local economy. Over half of our vendors are located within 50 miles of our factory – fifteen percent are even located within 10 miles. Less than ten percent of our key vendors, meaning the vendors we do the most business with, are located outside of California.
Our Vendors
Our vendors’ practices play a key part in our sustainability goals. Here are a few examples of ways they are practicing sustainability.
- Many recycle their scrap by either recycling it in-house or selling it to local recycling companies.
- They use sustainable materials that are capable of being recycled. In some cases, all of the product’s components can be recycled.
- Some products are made with post-consumer materials.
- The packaging is often made from recycled content.
- They use energy efficient lighting in their offices and factories.
- They produce products that are part of a circular economy. In other words, the products are designed to be reusable, serviceable, and upgradeable, while minimizing any value destruction and avoiding waste that would end up in a landfill.
Many of our vendors are also small, family-owned businesses and we are proud to have long standing relationships with them as a family-owned business ourselves.
Union Made
Bartco Lighting values the well-being of its employees and is proud to be a IBEW union company. Being a union-made, Made in America company plays an important role in our sustainability efforts. IBEW is committed to clean energy and is actively working towards promoting a clean energy future through innovation, partnerships with industry leaders, and developing advanced training programs.
